HOW THE LISTING WORKS:
How to read the list statistics:
HITS IN: The number of people your site is sending to ALN. This is the score used to rank your site in the list.
HITS OUT: The number of people ALN is sending to your site.
LAST RERANK: The time the list was last reranked. The list is reranked every 15 minutes.
NEXT RERANK: The time the list will next be reranked.
NEXT RESET: The time and date HITS IN and HITS OUT are reset to 0. Lists are RESET every 24 hours.
TOP 10: Top 10 sites that have the highest HITS IN.
CATEGORIES: Categories also contain their own TOP 10. Yuor site may not be in the OVERALL TOP 10, but it can be listed in the Category Top 10, which is also good.
HOW TO GET A HIGHER RANK:
Being listed in the ALN DATABSE is GOOD. Being listed in the TOP 10 is even better! Follow these TIPS and you'll get a higher rank!
LINK VISIBILITY:
Understand this: Visitors of your web site NEED to click on the ALN BANNER (or text link) in order for your site to accumulate points. These are your HITS IN. Therefore, LOGIC dictates that the ALN BANNER (or text link) PLACEMENT is
the most important thing to consider. Place the BANNER(s) at a HIGHLY VISIBLE SPOT on your web site, where the majority of your visitors will see it. You can also place the banner (or text link) in different sections of your site, such as the links section, or galleries section.
THE #1 MISTAKE:
Submitting your web site to multiple Top Lists WILL NOT
generate more traffic to your web site. It will, in fact, generate almost NO TRAFFIC to your site! This is the #1 MISTAKE webmasters do.
If you submit your web site to multiple Top Lists, you are sending your visitors in multiple directions. If you post many Top Lists Icons/Banners on your site, chances are people will not click on any of them, or just a few.
Your HITS IN of all your accounts will suffer greatly because of this. What happens then is that your have a VERY LOW RANK on all the Top Lists. Many times, your site
will not even be listed because you need at least 1 HIT IN in order to appear on the majority of Top Lists.
Too many icons/banners distracts the visitors and they simply ignore them. THIS IS A FACT!
WE STRONGLY SUGGEST that you limit your subscription to a maximum of TWO TOP LISTS. In our experience, this has proven to be the most efficient way to generate the best traffic to your web site. You will then ensure yourself a HIGHER RANK on these Top Lists.
BANNER ROTATION:
After a while, changing the ALN BANNER or TEXT LINK on your site can help. Doing that from time to time could incite your regular visitors to revisit ALN, therefore adding to your HITS IN.

YOUR BANNER ROTATION:
The top 10 sites in the overall listing have the opportunity of showing their banner. If you are listed in the Top 10, change your banner on a monthly basis. Keep it clean (no false advertising). New banners will attract the eye of regular visitors and they will be reminded to visit your site often.
